The city of Portland is getting ready for the holiday season with some shopping at some of its parks.
The Portland Parks and Recreation Department announced Thursday that it will start offering holiday shopping at the city’s parks, but there is one thing that you need to know about those special sales: They are only available on certain days of the year.
Parks Commissioner Andy Schreiber said he expects people will still be able to walk around in a costume on Halloween night, but that the department will offer discounts on merchandise.
The department’s website is offering discounts on Halloween gear, clothing and accessories.
On the other hand, there are other restrictions on what people can and can’t do on the day.
“We don’t want to discourage people from coming out and showing up, but we do want to make sure we’re taking into account all the things that people want to do, that they want to see, that we can do, and that we’re willing to offer,” Schreber said.
The department said it will also offer discounted parking at the parks.
Schreiber also said that the city will continue to keep an eye on what kinds of activity can occur in parks, such as people going to Halloween parties or using the parks for free performances.
