Daly city’s new gold city shopping centre will open on Tuesday and the city’s top jewellery and jewellery retailer, Golden City, has been given the go-ahead to open the first of three shops at the new shopping complex.
The gold city centre is one of the largest shopping centres in the country, and is one part of the $US1 billion redevelopment of the city and the main hub for the Dady Metro rail line.
The centre’s opening on Tuesday is the second phase of a planned 10-storey building, which is also the first phase of the redevelopment of a new shopping centre which was opened in February this year.
Daly City Mayor John Hargreaves said the new centre was expected to boost the citys image and boost the vibrancy of the region, which was looking for ways to attract more visitors to the city.
“Daly is a city of about 100,000 people, and the community is looking for a new type of shopping centre to expand on the old Dady shopping centre,” Mr Hargres said.
“We want to be a place where people can get to know their local area, where they can buy things they would like to see, and to have that shopping experience.”
The new shopping hub will include a large shopping mall, restaurants, cafes and a cinema.
The new shopping area will have a cinema and a food court.
“I think we have got a wonderful, vibrant community, and we are looking forward to opening this new retail and residential area,” Mr Goh told ABC News Breakfast.
“It will be a major hub in the region.”
The shopping centre is expected to open on Monday.
