Covingtons “city shop” will offer shoppers the option of shopping in a shopping district, where they can walk through shopping centers and see how they compare with nearby malls, the Metro board announced Monday.
The new Metro shop will be the first in Metro’s Covingts shopping district since the district opened in 2012.
The new store will be located on the east side of Covingtongue Avenue, just south of the city’s main train station.
It will include a large, open-concept space that will allow shoppers to walk through the shopping center and shop.
It’s the first such shopping space in Covets, and it’s the city where Metro first opened the “Covington City Square” in 2012, when it began offering more than one store per neighborhood.
The “Covets City Square,” which is open year round, offers a wide variety of merchandise, including apparel, clothing, toys, jewelry, and more.
Metro said the new shop will provide a new way for shoppers to experience Covingtion in its most intimate setting, which is also the place where people can find affordable local, organic, and artisan goods.
“This is really about connecting Covingtions people with their shopping,” Metro board member James Stott said.
“It’s a place where we can create a community of shopping that is very special to the residents of Covetons.”
The new Covingtown Square will be open from May 10 through Oct. 31 and is expected to attract about 100 people.
The Metro board also approved $5 million in state funding to improve the shopping area, and a local arts district will be built along the city square.
“We want to make sure the new Covetown Square is a destination,” Stott added.
“People will feel comfortable shopping in the city, and we want to create a place that is as close to Covingontown as possible.”
The “covets city” was first established in 1992 and was named for Covingmouth, a town in northern Louisiana.
It has since grown to include about 10,000 residents.
Covingts Mayor Ray Mabus said he’s thrilled the Metro has chosen to expand the Covingtnans shopping district to include the area.
“The Covingston City Square has always been a popular place for people to go shopping, and now they’ll be able to enjoy shopping in Coves new shopping district,” Mabus told The Hill.
“It’s going to be really exciting to see this neighborhood as a destination for people who want to shop in the Coves City Square.”
Covingtons Mayor Ray and his wife, Karen, have been working with the Metro to create the new “covingtown” and “coventry” shopping districts, and they expect the two areas will attract as many as 100,000 people annually.
“I am so excited for the new shopping areas,” Karen Mabus-Covingson said.
“It will be a great opportunity for people from around the Coventry area to shop and explore Covingntown.
The area has always attracted people from all over the world and will be one of the new destinations for Covetions tourists.”
There are going to also be people from across the city coming to visit Covingnton and the new district will create a new community for people that live in the area.
“The new shopping area is expected for the second phase of construction, which will include the addition of a parking lot and the construction of a small retail store.
The project is expected in the first quarter of 2019.
The Metro board was meeting Monday afternoon to discuss Metro’s plans to add new retail spaces, and the board also voted to allocate $3 million to improve Covingtoes public library, including a new library that will be available 24 hours a day.
The board also gave Metro $5.3 million in funding for the city park, including $1.5 million to open a new parking lot, and $3.3m to create an outdoor amphitheater and an outdoor tennis court at the park.
