The first of Dade’s two shopping malls will open in 2020.
The Dade Center Mall in Lake Mary, Fla., opened in 2017.
The shopping center was the first of three in the county.
The new shopping center, built in part with public money, is set to open next year.
The mall was built with $1 billion in federal and state funds.
Dade Mayor Karen Johnson said the Dade center would be the city’s largest and most diverse shopping center.
It will feature a dining hall, specialty stores and a pharmacy.
The mall will also feature a community garden and an art gallery.
“It’s a beautiful building,” Johnson said.
“The people of Dades city are going to be thrilled with it.”
Dade City will also be home to a new sports arena and community center.
The arena is scheduled to open by the end of 2019.
